Abstract The principle and method of automatic evaluation of measurement uncertainty in Met/Cal are systematically explained by means of analyzing three uncertainty sources which are by default considered to evaluate measurement uncertainty. Seven calculation fomulas used in evaluation of measurement uncertainty are introduced and how to achieve user-defined evaluation of measurement uncertainty is researched.Lastly, the default process of evaluation of measurement uncertainty and the procedure example of user-defined evaluation of measurement uncertainty is provided in order to support users rightly making use of the function of Met/Cal.
