Abstract The volume of arc tank shell tanker containers are measured using geometric method and volumetric comparison method. The uncertainty in volume measurement of the tanker containers are evaluated on the basis of the establishment of different mathematic models and the values are 4×10-3 (k=2) and 2×10-3 (k=2) respectively for geometric method and volumetric comparison method. To test the result of evaluation, the transfer-comparison method is adopted. By calculation and analysis of the test data, the validity and rationality of the evaluation is validated.
