Abstract The recent research of SHAOs new double-vacuum- structured active hydrogen maser to achieve its miniaturization is described. Compared with SOHM-4 active hydrogen maser, its physical size and weight are substantially decreased, the magnetic sensitivity and temperature sensitivity are improved, the long-term frequency stability and day frequency drift are better than expected.
