Research on the Traceability Technology of VOR Signal |

Abstract Based on a phase generator and frequency modulation (FM) / amplitude modulation (AM) instruments, a standard very high frequency omnidirectional range (VOR) signal generator is established to realize the traceability of VOR phase quantity to the national phase standard, which cannot be achieved using traditional method of direct digital synthesizing. According to the uncertainty analysis, the extended uncertainty of VOR phase is less than ±0.020° (k=2), while that of VOR modulation depth is ±0.2% (k=2). This standard VOR signal generator can be used to calibrate commercial avionic instruments for VOR signal generation and demodulation.
